Driving with iQ.Pilot

You stay in control the whole time. iQ.Pilot helps with the steering and the speed, and you can take over any moment.

Engage with your car’s cruise controls. iQ.Pilot centers you in the lane and holds your speed. If your car has factory stop-and-go, you can engage from a standstill; otherwise set it once you are moving. Steering and speed come on together, unless you turn on Always on Lateral, which keeps the steering ready on its own.

Use the cruise up and down buttons to set your speed. In the IQ.Pilot longitudinal mode this is a ceiling, so the car may drive slower on its own for traffic, curves, and stops. The other modes are covered in Longitudinal & Cruise.

Do any of these and iQ.Pilot hands control straight back:

  • Press the brake.
  • Press cancel on your cruise controls.
  • Press the gas, if you have Disengage on Accelerator turned on.
  • Turn the wheel firmly to take over the steering.

The screen shows the path iQ.Pilot is planning, the car ahead it is tracking, and your set speed. You can add more on-screen readouts in Visuals & Display.
